Become a Champion (BAC) is a Colorado limited liability company organized to provide basketball training & skill development for youth in the Denver metropolitan area.  The BAC staff works with youth in the Denver community to make a positive impact to their lives.  By stimulating the minds and bodies of these children and instilling confidence, BAC is investing in the future of Colorado and improving the lives of future generations, especially those children who are less fortunate.  The manager of BAC is Arzelle Lewis.  Mr. Lewis graduated from East High School in Denver, CO, in 2000. 

He was All-State in 2000 and was on the 1999 State Championship basketball team.  The 2000 team was ranked 16th by USA Today.  Mr. Lewis attended the Five Star Basketball camps four times.  He played Division I basketball at Idaho State, graduating as one of the school’s all time leading three point shooters.  He was named to the Big Sky Conference All Defensive Team four years in a row.  Mr. Lewis graduated from Idaho State in 2004 with a degree in physical education and has taken masters degree courses in health education as well.  He also has played basketball professionally.

For the past three years, Mr. Lewis has been involved with teaching and coaching youth throughout Denver.  From 2005-7, he taught physical education at Christ the King Catholic School in Denver, CO.  Currently, Mr. Lewis is the physical education teacher and athletic director at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School in Denver, CO.  He was an assistant coach for Basketball and Beyond during 2006 & 2007 where he coached teams and co-led numerous camps for children between the age of 6&15.  Mr. Lewis organized Become a Champion in 2007 and currently provides individual and group basketball training and skill development for youth between the ages of 7 & 18.

He has four competitive traveling teams from 4th grade to Varsity.  For the past three years, Mr. Lewis also has worked with numerous East High School Varsity & Junior Varsity players on a volunteer basis.  He attends practices, works individually with the players on their skills, and has been a positive role model for many of the boys on the team.  Mr. Lewis’ motto for these boys has been “Never be satisfied with the status quo.  You can always strive for better.”  The East boys Varsity Basketball team is currently ranked #1 in the state of Colorado.

Each team must represent their neighboring High School.

We will be representing the Denver East Angels

The team will be capped to 10-11 players

*Practice will be held at the JCC (Alameda & Dahlia)
